An article from the Scarborough Mercury 24th December 1914 entitled "FUNERALS OF VICTIMS - SCENE AT CEMETERY"
The Dean Road district presented a funeral aspect on Saturday, when several of the victims of the bombardment were laid to rest at the Cemetery. A detachment of Territorials was present, and Boy Scouts lined up at the entrance to the Cemetery during the afternoon.
The internment's were those of Alice Duffield, wife of John Duffield, 38 Esplanade, aged 56.
Emily Lois Merryweather, wife of George Merryweather, on whom service was previously held at St John's Road Chapel.
John Hall, architect, 28, Westbourne Park, aged 65, on whom service was held at the Falsgrave Wesleyan Chapel.
Edith Crosby, spinster, 1 Belvedere Road, aged 39.
Alfred Beal, postman, 50 Raleigh Street, aged 41.
Johanna Bennett, wife of Christopher Bennett, 2 Wykeham Street, 58 years.
Albert F. Bennett, 2 Wykeham Street, aged 22 years.
John Christopher Ward, son of Horace and Edith Ward, 2 Wykeham Street, aged 9 years.
George James Barnes, 2 Wykeham Street, aged 5 years.
Ada Crow, spinster, aged 24, 124 Falsgrave Road: Service being held at St James Church.
Leonard Ellis, porter, 29 Londesborough Road, aged 48.
The internment of Margaret Briggs took place at Barnsley.
Every possible respect was shown to the deceased and the Cemetery walks were thronged with mourners throughout the afternoon.
The Salvation Army Band accompanied the remains of Leonard Ellis to the Cemetery, playing the Dead March on the way.
The interments also took place on Sunday afternoon of Bertha McEntyre, 22 Westbourne Park; John Shield Ryalls, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ryalls, 22 Westbourne Park; Mary Prew, widow 17 Belle Vue Street, aged 65 years; and George Harland Taylor, son of John and Harriet Taylor, North Street. The last funeral took place on Monday, that of Harry Frith.
